Sunshine Home Care Services believes that our direct service workers are the backbone of our company. They are essential in providing day to day care in the clients' homes to ensure our clients can safely remain in the comfort of their own homes. In order to support and retain these important positions, Sunshine Home Care Services plans to use at least 95% of any grant money received through the Direct Services Workforce Investment grant to build up and help retain our direct services workers. We would like to focus our grant money on things our direct services staff have expressed an interest in including: retention activities such as providing appropriate work attire (sweatshirts, T-shirts, etc) that they can wear to provide client care in the homes, especially while the weather is cold, morale boosting activities that show SHCS' appreciation for all their hard work and provide a relief for them throughout their day  such as: coffee bars, snacks and meals made available. These activities promote retention and are requested by direct service staff. Assistance with transportation and cost along with driving such as help with transportation and gas cost. Where feasible, increases in rates to become more competitive with other industries.
